Nairobi

Following the two regional workshops in Hanoi and Bamako, the Nairobi Conference was convened on 16-17 April 2009 in Nairobi, Kenya. The Nairobi Statement, including five guiding principles on adaptation to climate change, was adopted at the conference. The conference represents a milestone in the Dialogue and in the efforts to strengthen the voice of developing countries in the climate change debate.

The Nairobi Statement

The Nairobi Statement is a cutting edge framework for future ideas and initiatives on climate change adaptation. The statement is a milestone in the Dialogue as it sets out jointly agreed guiding principles for future actions. The Nairobi Principles are cutting edge because they fully recognize the essential linkages between land and water.
